Seawall Repair
Project
Naples, a neighborhood of Long Beach, California, is built on three islands protected by seawalls. A project to refurbish the seawalls involved driving the steel sheet piles seen above.
Monitoring Requirement
Driving sheet piles generates noise and vibration. To protect adjacent properties from excessive vibrations and to protect people from excessive noise, the contractor needed vibration monitors and sound level sensors.
Implementation
GEO supplied three rental SVMs and some basic training. The SVMs (solar powered vibration monitors) were ideal for the job: no operator, no power cords, and easy to relocate as needed.
